CAFS Chief Scientist Recruitment Announcement

Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS) is a national fisheries research institution directly under the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and carries out the key basic and applied research and high-tech industry development for national fisheries. The academy plays an influential role in solving basic, directional, general and crucial scientific and technological problems, and invigorating fisheries through science and technology, cultivating high level intellectuals, broadening national and international exchange and cooperation on fisheries sciences.

To meet the demand of national agricultural and fisheries reconstructing and fisheries development, in 2002, CAFS implemented subject strategic reorganization to realize overall scientific and technological advantages integration, strengthen building of key disciplines and greatly improve high-tech innovation. After the reorganization, all the key disciplines (research fields) implement chief scientist responsibility system. According to different disciplines, each discipline (research field) sets up 1-3 positions, recruiting chief scientists from home and abroad. The announcement of chief scientists is for Chinese and foreign elites.

      II.              Requirements

1.        Rigorous style of study. With good academic integrity and team spirit, sense of dedication;

2.        First line science and research work experience. With big influence in Chinese and international academic circles, with great academic attainments in your own discipline;

3.        Familiar with discipline trend at home and abroad in your own field. Grasp the direction of cutting-edge disciplinary research on the long run, have innovative strategic thinking;

4.        With capability of carrying out frontier research, made high level innovative achievements in your own discipline

5.        With capability of continuous cultivating talents, leading an innovative team and  communicating cooperatively;

6.        With research (professor) title or doctorial degree;

7.        Mastering a foreign language, with ability of carrying out international academic exchange activities independently;

8.        First appointment of age should not exceed 55, with qualified health condition.

   III.              Recruitment scope

National-wide and overseas, including CAFS scientific and technological personnel.

   IV.              Rewards

1.        Annual income of chief scientists is no less than 150,000 yuan RMB;

2.        For the employed who lives out of the city where the Institute is located, offer an apartment no less than 100m², or a certain amount of  house purchase subsidies;

3.        Offer necessary research start-up fund, experimental conditions and assistants;

4.        For employees redeployed from other places, the employer Institutes will provide assistance to handle the relevant procedures and the settle down of their families, and to assist the families to arrange suitable work.   

      V.              Recruitment procedures

1.        application:  the candidates submits their application materials to  the Division of Personnel Management, CAFS. the materials include:

l  20 copies of CAFS Chief Scientist Application Form (download from http://www.cafs.ac.cn). For candidates from other institutes, pleases write down your aim position, and communicate with relative institute in advance;

l  Three representative academic papers (copies);

l  Relative certificates copies and proof materials of other relative        academic performance;

l  Degrees, title certificates and ID copy.    

2.      Qualification review: recruitment office staff will check the qualification of the candidates. Materials of qualified candidates will be submitted to Expert Review Committee, and the candidates will be informed of taking defense.

3.       Confirmation: CAFS Recruitment Leader Team will determine the selected people according to the assessment result and publish the recruitment result.
